'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves': An unparalleled world of fantasy comes to theaters this March

'Dungeons & Dragons' has been around for almost 50 years and according to the first reactions, everything that fans of fantasy worlds want in a movie

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves“ brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary game to the big screen in a fun, action-packed adventure. A charming thief and a group of unlikely adventurers plan an epic heist to recover a lost relic, but things go horribly wrong when they run into the wrong people.

„Dungeons & Dragons“ is a tabletop role-playing game created in the first half of the 1970s, and its popularity has not waned since its inception, but has entered every pore of pop culture. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set in one of the game's worlds, the Forgotten Realms, and completely immerses you in that incredible world, whose action is led by a motley gang of thieves.

The director is John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, which are known for their comedies Vacation (2015) and Game Night (2018). As a team, they also wrote the script for hits like Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2017 and Horrible Bosses, 2011, which would mean that the audience can expect a good dose of comedy in Honor Among Thieves .

The first feature-length film based on the popular game was released in 2000, simply titled Dungeons & Dragons, and it failed miserably at the box office. The reason for this was a complete disconnection from the source material, but that might still pass with a wider audience, but the film was simply bad - from the plot, acting, dialogue and effects.

It took more than 20 years to rectify that and restore the trust of viewers, and according to the initial reactions of critics and audiences who saw Honor Among Thieves at the SXSW Festival in Texas, it was worth the wait.
