Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel in the pop melodrama 'Mother Mary'

The production company of the Everything Everywhere All at Once, A24, is working on a new film; pop melodrama.

Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel will star in the epic pop melodrama Mother Mary by director David Lowery and the independent production and distribution company A24, which produced this year's seven-time Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All at Once.

With this film, Lowery continues his collaboration with A24, under whose auspices he worked on two of his previous films – A Ghost Story (2017) and The Green Knight (2021).

The love story of a musician and a designer

Mother Mary tells the story of a musician played by Anne Hathaway - the star of this year's crime drama Eileen and A Mother's Instinct (2022) - and her love affair with a famous fashion designer played by Michaela Coel, last seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) and the award-winning series I May Destroy You, in which she plays the main role, but is also its screenwriter, director and producer.

The musical side of the film is best told by the fact that Anne Hathaway already had a notable role in the musical. It is an adaptation of the famous theater play Les Misérables (2012), in which she starred with Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman and won her first Oscar (for best supporting actress).

Bleachers writes songs

In addition, it is known that the film will have original music and songs for which Daniel Hart, Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff, the frontman of the American rock group Bleachers who often collaborates with Taylor Swift, will be in charge.

Director David Lowery is also a producer of the film, along with Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston and Jeanie Igoe. Also mentioned as producers are Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo and Jonathan Saubach from the German production company Filmproduktion, considering that the film will be shot in Germany.

Next month, on April 28, Lowery is waiting for the premiere of the fantasy adventure film Peter Pan & Wendy, in which the cast consists of Jude Law, Alan Tudyk, Molly Parker and Yara Shahidi.
