365 DAYS NETFLIX TRENDING FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

365 days, a Polish erotic drama, takes over Netflix

Country's response to Fifty Shades of Grey quickly reaches number one position in the US and the UK.

365 Days, a Polish erotic drama dubbed the country's version of Fifty Shades of Grey is currently the number one feature film on Netflix - in the US and the UK. In the rest of Europe, the film remains at an equally strong second place.

The story centres around Laura, a young Warsaw professional who decides to celebrate her birthday in Italy. Dissatisfied with her boyfriend, who does not want to have sex with her anymore, she runs into Massimo, a Sicilian crime boss. Becoming obsessed with her, Massimo kidnaps Laura and gives her 365 days to fall in love with him.

Blanka Lipińska wrote the book upon which the drama was made, and the film was directed by Barbara Białowąs and Tomasz Mandes. The main characters are played by young, internationally unknown actors. Ania Grabek - Laura - has appeared in the Polish medical television series Na dobre i na złe, while Michele Morrone has appeared in Italian films El Juicio and Sirene.

According to Film New Europe 365 Days has been released on June 7 and has quickly reached Netflix's Top 10. It also reminds us that the platform has changed how the popularity is measured, as it only takes 2 minutes for a title to be counted as seen.

The reviews for this erotic (guilty) pleasure have been mixed, at best. While some have applauded more daring sex scenes in the film and found certain enjoyment in the craziness of the plot, others have been less open to the fantasy and have commented on the film's apparent glorification of kidnapping.
