EMMY HBO NETFLIX

72nd Emmy Awards Nominations Announcemed

Will HBO win over the globally spread Netflix? Or someone else will get involved in the game, we will find out at the beginning of autumn 2020.

On July 28, 2020, the list of nominations for The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards came out. In the world of television, the Emmy is a pandan to the Oscar in the film world. The Emmy Awards event will take place on September 20, 2020, and will be broadcast by the American ABC. The prestigious ceremony is hosted by comedian, actor, and writer Jimmy Kimmel. In the nominations, Watchmen - HBO leads with eleven nominations. It is followed by Succession - HBO with ten nominations, and Ozark - Netflix with nine nominations. If the predictions come true, in the prestigious award for best drama series, the battle will be fought between Better Call Saul - AMC and Killing Eve - BBC America.

The year that counts in the television world from June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2020, was unique, at least. Due to the global pandemic, COVID-19, the rules of the game in the world of show business have changed somewhat. Due to the closure of cinemas around the world and the interruption of film distribution, all attention is focused on digital platforms. The unprecedented growth of subscribers is the expected result of the effect of precautionary measures and self-isolation due to COVID-19 and the shutdown of the cinema industry indefinitely.

That is why this year's Emmy Award will be an indicator of who rules the propulsive industry of pay-TV channels. Will HBO win over the globally spread Netflix? Or someone else will get involved in the game, we will find out at the beginning of autumn 2020.
